So we want to do something different: pull back the curtain and explain, in plain language, exactly what goes into a La Peau formula and the work each ingredient does for your skin.

The Hydration Heroes
These ingredients do one essential job: get water into your skin and keep it there. Hydrated skin looks plumper, feels softer, and reflects light more evenly – which is the real source of that “glow” everyone chases.
Sodium Hyaluronate – is the form of hyaluronic acid we use in our Brightening Hydra Lucent Essence, and there’s a reason we chose it over plain hyaluronic acid. Its molecules are smaller, so it penetrates more easily rather than just resting on the surface. Once absorbed, it acts like a sponge, drawing moisture into the skin and holding it there for lasting, cushiony hydration. This is what gives skin that supple, replenished feel.
Saccharide Isomerate – is the quiet workhorse. Derived from plant sugars, it binds to the skin and helps it hold onto moisture over time – think of it as long-lasting hydration that doesn’t evaporate by midday. It also supports your skin’s natural moisture barrier, the protective layer that keeps the good stuff in and irritants out.
The Brightening Duo
“Brightening” is a word used loosely in skincare, so here is what it genuinely means: helping fade the look of dark spots and uneven tone so your complexion looks clearer and more luminous. Two ingredients in our essence work together to do this.
Niacinamide (a form of Vitamin B3) is one of the most well-studied ingredients in all of skincare, and for good reason. It helps refine the look of uneven tone and dark spots, smooths texture, and – importantly – strengthens the skin barrier so your skin becomes more resilient over time. It’s gentle enough for daily use yet does real, visible work. If you only learned about one ingredient in your routine, this would be the one worth knowing.
Licorice Root Extract is niacinamide’s natural partner. It comes from the licorice plant and has long been valued for helping brighten the appearance of a dull or uneven complexion. Paired with niacinamide, it reinforces that clearer, more even-looking result.
The Botanical Guardians
Beyond hydration and brightening, our essence includes a blend of botanical extracts chosen for soothing comfort and antioxidant support – protecting your skin from the everyday environmental stress that dulls it over time.
Centella Asiatica (you may know it as “cica”) is a calming botanical prized for soothing and comforting the skin, especially helpful if your skin is prone to feeling sensitive or stressed.
Edelweiss Extract, from the resilient alpine flower, brings antioxidant support – helping defend the skin against environmental stressors like pollution.
Verbascum Thapsus Flower is included for the soft, radiant-looking finish it lends the complexion.
Together, these botanicals are why the essence feels as calming as it does effective.
The Shield: SPF50 PA++++
Every ingredient above does patient, cumulative work – and daily sun exposure is the single fastest way to undo it. That’s why protection isn’t optional.
Our UV Protection Sunscreen SPF50 PA++++ is the finishing step that preserves everything else. Here’s what those ratings actually mean, since they’re often misunderstood:
- SPF50 measures protection against UVB rays – the ones that cause burning. SPF50 filters out roughly 98% of UVB.
- PA++++ is the highest rating available and measures protection against UVA rays – the deeper rays responsible for premature aging, fine lines, and the gradual return of dark spots.
In other words, the four plus signs are doing the long-term anti-aging work, while the SPF number handles burning. You want both, and this is why we don’t compromise on either.
